Printing For Less is an easy to use service. The whole process of ordering, uploading files, and delivery is pretty simple. The ordering process isn’t as versatile as some, and with all the information crammed into one screen (file selection, finishing options, shipping options, payment info), it’s a bit cluttered.

Selection:  

Printing For Less has a good selection of printable products, including business cards, calendars, posters, brochures, and more.

Design Features:  

You can create your own design with the Printing For Less online design tool, but we don’t recommend it. Compared to other online printing services, the designer is pretty rudimentary, and the templates you can customize seemed a bit dated.

PFL does allow you to upload your own completed design, however, and supports an impressive list of programs, including some lesser-used design programs like Pagemaker, FrameMaker, Deneba Canvas, and even Broderbund or Serif software.

Finishing Features:  

The finishing touches from Printing For Less are great, and can add a professional look and feel. They have a number of specialized printing effects that you won’t find elsewhere. With Printing For Less you can add a spot varnish (gloss, satin, or dull), Pantone spot color, or die-cutting. They also offer embossing, metallic inks, foil stamping, and even holographic foils.

Shipping:  

PFL uses FedEx Ground shipping standard, but you can also upgrade for quicker shipping (or change to UPS, USPS, or freight). They also have mailing services available, so you can send your design and a mailing list and they will send your printed postcards or brochures for you.

Print Quality:  

The prints we got from Printing For Less were great. PFL prints quality products with consistency.

To assure that your design transfers properly and is ready for printing, Printing For Less offers a free technical review. Basically you send them your file and they will check it for about 50 common mistakes and other issues that could cause potential problems. It’s a great way to have somebody take a second look at your product before buying tons of prints, and it’s completely free. PFL even has some free repair services, and is willing to make simple adjustments to your files for free.

Help/Support:  

One of the best things Printing For Less has to offer is their dedicated customer service teams. PFL has 8 teams (of 3) that can be your dedicated assistants throughout the online printing process. From technical problems to file prep, to ordering and printing turnaround, you won’t have to go far for personalized help.

Printing For Less is a pretty good online printer. They really shine with personalized help and free prepare and repair services. Unfortunately, they’re falling behind in the online design category and don’t have as many features as some of our other reviewed printing services. Printing For Less is a good option, but you should consider UPrinting, FedEx, or Next Day Flyers for better overall quality.
